San Francisco Health Plan Member Portal

Who:

San Francisco Health Plan (SFHP) is a health insurance company that provides health insurance to low-income San Franciscans. SFHP wanted a brand new Member Portal created to better communicate their services to their members through direct digital messaging and outreach.

What:

SFHP wanted a clean, easy to navigate, culturally sensitive, multilingual design for the Member Portal. The portal serves a diverse clientele in both age and race and is showcased in four languages - English, Spanish, Chinese and Vietnamese. The portal is member facing only - the general public does not have access to this site.

How:

This was a brand new portal site. The design of the home page, login page and content pages site wide were created from scratch. As the sole web designer on the project team, I designed the site wide look and feel of the SFHP Member and Provider Portals from the ground up - from client contact, concept, research, initial sitemaps, wireframes, visual design, UI/UX design, logo design to front end development in HTML and CSS. I worked collaboratively with core team members and met with various stakeholders within the organization, presented the final design to the overall team and created a design and final product that met SFHP’s business goals. I worked on all facets of the design from concept, design to coding build. I worked on the following:

  • Concept
  • Research
  • Initial Sitemap
  • Sketches
  • Wireframes
  • Visual Design - imagery, logo design and layout design for the login page, home page and all content pages site wide.
  • Note: The healthcare CMS vendor provided the design and functionality to all data pieces and form pages site wide (i.e. the allergy checker function, get a new ID card form).
  • Front End Development in HTML/CSS for the homepage and all content pages site wide. (Note: the log in page, data fields and form fields were built out by the healthcare CMS vendor.)
